BABY BONES: In Memory of Sandy Hook
Imagine Peace Now, 2016
Baby Bones was included in Imagine Peace Now, a traveling exhibition shown at various institutions across the United States from 2016-2018. It was curated by Boris Bally and juried by Emily Zilber, Monica Moses, and Shepard Fairey. This piece was awarded the Honorable Mention CRAFTHAUS Award.
Baby Bones is now in the collection of Fluer Bresler.
The handgun, often extolled as a symbol of masculinity and power, is stripped of its brutal black color and misguided values to reveal the true cost of gun ownership. Mesmerizingly beautiful in its fragility, this handgun is enveloped in a skin of tiny bones, from femurs to vertebrae to baby teeth. In order to use this gun, one would have to literally break the tiny bones and feel the splinters digging into one’s hand.
